Quick question - who owns the copyright of my posts on orble? I am assuming Orble otherwise you wouldn't be able to reassign inactive blogs - but just like to check thanks

as no one else is answering you, I will.
Yes, Orble owns the copyright, and you assume correctly, regarding the reassignment.
Unless, when you are given a domain, by Orble, which you invent, so it is not a pre-existing one, and you ask that you retain copyright of all your work, which is what I did.
However, this means you are on your own legally regarding copyright infringement and defense of your intellectual property.

Can you provide evidence of this? I can find nothing in the Orble FAQ about copyright, and I did find this old Cibbuano's Blog post saying copyright belongs to the content creator.
Jon, can you please confirm this, or update us?
Regards,
Chris

If not, then our copyright is ours. This needs clarification by the Orble Admin.
I'm a member of the Australian Copyright Council, anyone can join and get emails from them. Protect yourself with knowledge, especially of your rights as a writer of original content.
No one can take your rights unless you sign them away.

the evidence I have is in my contract with Orble, which omitted the rights being protected by Orble.
Orble argued that they will not stand in the way of me publishing any of my stories and stated they would defend my original work against any pirates on the web...
I didn't take up their kind offer, having been an agent (at one point) covering a publishing deal, I know exactly who the publisher wants to deal with, the copyright owner!
Your contract, I have not seen. Originally in my contract, Orble assumed copyright over all content in its domain owned sites.
If your site was set up for you by Orble, and you are getting 'paid' (joke) from Adsense, then your work on the site belongs to Orble.
I objected and demanded that I retain copyright over all my work, and that was agreed to and reflected in my contract.
At least that was the deal when I joined in 2007.
cheers and it seems there is no admin here anymore...

"On Topic Media retains copyright over the material on each blog to protect ourselves legally. In practice we do not stop bloggers editing, deleting, or using their material for other purposes such as books. We do ask that the material you publish on Orble blogs is not duplicated elsewhere on the web without asking us first. If you have a specific reason that you wish to retain copyright over your work contact support@orble.com. "

in response to Dan Cottone and "The Wrier's Lounge" above;
Orble owns copyright over all your work, unless you demand a separate contract that states copyright remians with the author, as i did when I originally joined up.
My terms are not re-negotiable and Orble knows this.
