hi Donovan,

if you like a post you hit the vote button and the amount of karma you have is added to the post's overall score

the posts with the highest scores get featured on the popular list on homepage

anonymous users and non-members can also vote, their votes count for one point

if you think a post is well-written or funny or important, or you like the writer or the topic etc, then hit the vote button to show your support for other bloggers

Also, I think that if you comment on something, it counts as a vote, since if you try to write a comment and then vote, it doesn't work.

yep you are right, Freman

when you comment it counts as a vote, you karma points are only allocated once even if you perform both actions or coment several times

My question isn't really worth a thread of its own, so I may as well tag along here.

The issue is, I once tinkered with an article on my mother's computer. Now obviously my family would like to support my blog by voting for it when they read, but that IP address now seems to be permanently entered as one of my own. Not only does this mean that they can't vote, but it could also cause problems if they start clicking on any ads, with adsense's perfectly reasonable policy against people generating false traffic.

Any remedy for this?

i think if you clear the cache and the cookies and logout you should get a fresh start at any computer
