How come this is happening?

We don't have anything on the sites that should even vaguely resemble spyware unless someone has hacked some of them or intserted it into their posts.

I guess the question is whether it safe.
I can keep firewall blocking it My network does require a high level of security.
I did find two interesting trivia about it:
In 2006, MySpace banned posting any TinyURLs.
As of 2008, Facebook also does not allow the posting of TinyURLs

Actually after a little research it looks like tinyurl.com maybe turning to the darkside in order to generate some cash. I always wondered how they intended to make money.
Evidently they were redirecting people through another webpage where a monitoring cookie is planted which is very cheeky. The cookie is used to compile user behaviour in order to target ads more effectively.
Perhaps they should be considered spyware afterall.

I only did a check on Wiki so the info is a reliable as the last nerd hissy fit but it may be worth chasing up.
