Stats/Comission confusion

November 23rd 2006 00:06
I'm not quite following the stats comission page...

I've had a post with the second most votes I've ever had, this monday... and yet my commission and views statistics are the second lowest ever...

How is this so?

Commision is per click, so you can get 1 million individual readers but not a single click on an ad, so you don't get paid.

Dunno about the views/comments thingy, probably just crappy coincedence.

Actually most of the google ads are PPC (pay per click) rather then PPM (pay per thousand impression); M stands for roman thousand.

In PPC ad you don't get paid if no clicks come. even millions of impression won't do anything.

In PPM, which is calculated by thousand ad impression; means Every thousand time the ad got viewed you get paid.

Unfortunately Google Adsense have very few PPM ads (advertiser call it CPM-Cost per thousand), so you really need your reder to get interested and click.

I think Orble should try One section of the ads by other advertisers who have CPM (ex- Text link ads), and as far as i know that doesn't violate Google adsense policy.

Advertisement cycling you mean?

Oh, you can't simply say 'click on the google ads', that is against google's policy, so beest you don't get orble in hot water over it.

Ahmed's right there -- you definitely can't say "support us by clicking on the ads" or something similar.

We have tried CPM in the past and it has not paid anywhere near as well as google adsense. At some point when we have enough readers over all of the blogs we will be able to cut individual advertising deals but I think this is at least a couple of months away.

Out of interest, Jon, what are the more successful blogs getting in terms of clicks? I'm still not getting much in the way of ad clicks, around 300 a day.

Well click readers could click on images too I think... Not too sure how the click counter works..

Off course we cant say click it. Yes Jon is right no one pays like Goggle. I am saying CPM can be placed on high traffic blog, i think we already have some.

I don't know if it is workable but how about giving that choice to the user? 'per click' or 'per view' options...

brenton, all you can do is keep attracting readers and hope that some of it will translate.

My revenue has been down for the past several weeks, too. It might just be that the advertisers are paying less for your keywords!

OK, I'm starting to get a handle on how all it works.

Seriously, sorry if i sound a bit whiny, it's the feeling that I don't understand something that gets to me, not so much the money...

I never knew the thing about the cost of adwords...

Uuuuummmm...guys....I'm confused...

What if I am just a regular writer and I don't have domain blogs here at orble, will I also earn if I am just an orble writer? You're talking about adsense here....are we part of the PPC of google? or you are talking about something else?

Sorry...just want to clear things out...hehehehe

Ahmed

But wait, what if I'm a regular writer and my post creates a lot of traffic for googles, do I get paid for that?

Not so long as you're not a domain name blogger.

But it will be quite sometime before you do start making a lot of money (or any) in the blogging biz, so for the time being you should be doing it because you enjoy to.

thanks, yeah, I do enjoy blogging and reading and commenting..hahaha...I am still finding my way around like sometimes I am trying to post a comment, I would always be asked to log in even though I am logged in already. Funny, I still comply everytime they ask me to log in then for all I know my comment is gone...kapooof! nada! then I again log in and add my comment then asks me to log in again ...the same process everytime I comment on something...huh.... I'm done.... Until I forgot my comment...

Can you help me on this?

so is it logging you off on its own? Well if it is what you should do is before posting your comment is to refresh the page, solves the problem for me most of the time (press F5 on your keyboard to do so).

yeah, most of the time it is logging me off. if I refresh it, it just goes back to the main page of the blog I'm reading...

thanks guys, especially that last post. I've been writing my blog for about 3 months now and I wondered why i wasn't getting paid. Nobody told me I had to sign up to google adsense!

December 18th 2006 03:44
Oh you don't have too, first make sure your bank details are with orble, and secondly it takes a while for the first pay anyway. You have to stick to it for about two/three months befor eyou do get paid for your first month

WHat happens is every month you're paid for the last month, so on and so forth, so it takes some time to get any money
