Relating future-dated posts to other posts

Hey Jay,
Would it be possible to introduce this feature? I used to be able to do it (around September last year), but have been unable to for a while.
Basically, when you've got a post that's awaiting publication, and you try to relate that post to other posts, you get a message about invalid ID.
Could you change things so that relating is possible?
No big deal if it's too difficult to implement. Just wondering what you thought.
