Question about page rankings?????
August 2nd 2007 23:55
After Katyzzzz's post on how to get more blog traffic to your site (I honestly don't have the link anymore Katyzzz might help us out) I took the advice of the site she linked us to and downloaded a little piece of software that tells you the search engine page rank of every site you go onto; Ill have to say I am a little surprised at the results. Orble comes up at a ranking of 182,074 which I thought in the scheme of things was alright. Then I noticed another little blog site I run (where I have been doing the polls) but put very little energy into; has a ranking of 15 which I assumed was becasue it is a google blog site but other google blog sites I see have lower rankings than mine, and frankly it is a mystery to me as I have no real links to other pages other than a News feed on Climate News and some Amazon affillitae links and a Google Search Bar.........Also my Orble Climate Red page is not ranked at all.
Do we Orblers know how to improve this? I am sure it will do us all good to get our search engine traffic up, votes are nice and all but I can't imagine anyone here would complain about more visitors from the outside world!!!
Cheers

I'm not sure which tool you are referring to. The orble domain itself has an OK rank, however any ranking given to the orble.com domain will not include all the traffic which the domain blogs attract. If you added all of that traffic together Orble would rank very well.
I think your blogging site probably ranks well because it's measuring the popularity of the parent domain -- probably blogger.com? -- not the individual blog you are writing.
