MS WORD 2007 and Blogging
May 18th 2008 23:05
Here is a curly technical question that may help out a lot of people.
The current version of MS Word 2007 has a function to connect and upload Blogs.
If it is possible to upload blogs directly via Word it would save a lot of double handling. Cutting pasting and fumbling.
Also I can format where the images go before in one hit.
I have tried several time to make it work but it keeps failing at the authentication.
I am not sure if it is just a configuration issue at my end or a compatibility issue at the server end.
Has anyone been able to sort this out?
Or does anyone know if it is possible to do this on Orble?
I will write a TUT for everyone if it can sorted out.
Thanks in advance

I've put it on the list to have a look at but I don't know how hard it will be to program.
If it just uploads a bunch of HTML code then it may not be too bad.

For the Sake of Argument
My Apologetics
I did a bit of reading and came across a few things for the server side:
" they have also added support for any blog service that supports either ATOM or MetaWebLog API. "
I think that these are open source applications but I am not sure.
I found an article called:
Testing Word 2007 Blog Integration

And about ATOM.
Which is a XML format.
In direct response to the mess that is the MetaWeblog API, the Atom API was designed with several guiding principles in mind:
Well-defined data model -- with schemas and everything!
Doc-literal style web services, not RPC
Take full advantage of XML and namespaces
Take full advantage of HTTP
Secure, so no passwords in the clear

It's like you look at every other industry and it's fairly well developed, there is no 'messy API' this or that in games dev, it's all clean and robust. Like well oiled machines

Yep it is the Internet.
The Wild West of science and technology.
Too many banditos and too few sheriffs.
