Magic Post

November 19th 2007 20:49
Jon,

My new post keeps appearing and disappearing on the home page. It also will come up if I type in my domain address, then say invalid URL, then come up, then go away.

This is the URL of the new one:

Really Long Link

As usual, I will add that I may have done something to make it angry, and if so, I have no idea what it would be.

OK, I've been trying to get back in here for an hour!

Now this post won't work for me! It keeps asking me over and over again to login even though I haven't done anything, then it said this post didn't exist, then after I refreshed a hundred times it let me in.

It's doing the same on my other post. And when I go to the home page and select 'show all new posts' it will show all of them, then a minute later show all but mine, then a minute after that it will only show posts from 5 hours ago. And when I tried to comment and vote on other people's posts it worked with differing degrees of success...

Is this just happening to me? What have I done? It's acting like I don't exist, like I'm Sandra Bullock in The Net and technology has wiped out my identity!

I'm really sorry about these problems Michaelie.

I asked the server people to make some changes to the database servers (introduce a new super fast one) and they managed to stop replication on one of the old database servers. So basically whenever a webpage server asked the old database server anything about a new post it replied that it did not know anything about it! Because these changes are made when I'm asleep I don't notice until the next morning...

Everything should be working now. I've still got one more change to make as on top of turning off replication on the old database server, they do not seem to have set up the new one properly!

Again, I'm really sorry for all the problems this has caused. I'm having people whipped as I speak

Jon.

Hahaha no worries (S&M) Jon. I screw it up on a regular basis on my own so I'm used to it.
