What a leading question: logic -I would not put a link to here if I were thinking of moving on, and I'm a long way from my website, just the domain has given me the horrors and I bought a website template which came in 6 different pieces, requires putting together like a jigsaw puzzle but I can't put my fingers on it and they don't give refunds, I'm supposed to go and do a course on website construction Mr. Superior tells me, but, if I buy a dress do I usually get an unstitched garment with just the pieces and I might add no useful instructions, and then be told I must do a seamstress' course so that I'll know how to put it together, I think I have done my dough. I'm having the weekend off supposedly and now find myself trying to get this running. Orble owns everything on Orble, I think it is time I acquired a few things myself, I keep finding things losing things can't find them again etc and oh, it does go on.

Unfortunately, I can't see around corners, silly me.

The arrogance of so called 'expert' - my name for them is idiot which they think I am, who hide their ineptitude by belittling others. I'm off to buy a new car, rumour has it I'll have to put it together myself.

And I am no typist so I shouldn't really be doing this, oh for the day when I can engage a typist to do it for me. I HATE typing, now we all have to do it.

Thank you so much for your help darling, but you can't keep a secret, can you? I am an open book, exposed here, as I am on the internet.

I'll always be engaged just a little with Orble, otherwise I lose completely my considerable investment of time. You know how it is, always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

Sorry about all of that, makes good reading for some.

Thank you once again, when I make my fortune I'll invite you out for dinner, but don't go hungry in the meantime.

I'm preparing for when I don't have the time nor inclination to spend much time on blogging, which time is galloping up fast, thank heavens.

Speaking of jigsaws - you are a bit of one yourself, Ms Katyzzz. And I don't think I have found all the pieces yet.

Michaelie, I am liquoirice allsorts. Just look at my profile, at least no-one has to pay for me, and let alone get me in pieces.

Tracy, funny about that, I had the same problem as Michaelie, did you end up with katyzzzplace.com or with dynadot.

This thing is sending me crazy, but I think it looks nice, doesn't it?

It seems the first and third links lead to a "lense" type page kinda like what Squidoo does?

I'm thinking about getting a Squidoo lense site?

Maybe you should too?

About those web templates? Were they CSS?

Check out books on Css and (x)html - there a good one by Elizabeth Castro from Visual Quickstart Guides that I use!

There are lots of web sites with info on basic html and free programs you can download!

The thing is finding time to type up the coding!

Email me privately if you get really stuck - we can debug each others pages?

Maybe I can figure out what the templates are?

What format are they in?

Whats the file type?

Jon is trying to coax me into a domain name !

Cross fingers and hope the wrok we've done finally pays off for both of us!

AAARGh all those art / business blogs with links and not one single sale YET!

I would have thought some one could use the Shopping aAaRgH bag ?

Thanks Lara, but it seems to me only the second one goes to katyzzzplace, the others just refer to it and you can't get at it, it's actually just a dynadot site. It seems strange that it comes up for you but not for me or Michaelie, The pink one is the one that needs to come up not the dynadot parking space from which no-one can access katyzzzplace.

Do hope you can shine a little light on this.

katyzzz....thanks for the lovely review. It's very early days yet there are some other things I need to get going so I am a long way from home but it's a good learning exercise. And if you google in you'll find heaps of people having trouble.

Julie, thanks for all of that, you'll be well advised to take Jon's domain, helps with the adsense earnings. That's what I am hoping to attract. I'm no puritan, there are many promises out there, just making money from those silly enough to part with it but I was really cheesed off with the template that came in pieces, their having induced everyone else not to go with adsense ready sites, what a take.

Jon has made the domain thing on Orble very easy, it is not so easy elsewhere but I want to be doing it on my own and that way what I do belongs to me.

I'm sure your knowledge is heaps ahead of mine but I'm pretty good at coming up with solutions, I just have no patience.

Hope a few profit from what goes on here.

I think lens do not pay any money, I'm just not interested in running a charity, I'm already doing that with a lot of my time.

For the first link it was to Katyzzzplace.com and the second to katyzzzplace.com.

So, they seem to work OK for me. Yes, they do look good and it's a great idea.

Hi Katyzzz, just thought I'd show you how you can set it up.

Dynadot isn't actually the best service to use with blogspot, I know from experience, but it's definitely possible to make it work so take heart

Heres a step by step instructions on how to set it up::

First go to your account area on dynadot then click on the domains tab (right up top, you'll see it there

). now you should come to a page with your domain name (katyzzzplace.com), theres a check box next to it, click on that. Then click on the button with the text 'Set Name Servers' which will take you to another page.

Next thing you need to do is scroll down all the way to the bottom until you come across something that says:

CNAME Records
(optional)

It's right at the bottom.

Now next to it you'll see a bunch of text boxes with ".name.ext" written inbetween them (just look for the text ".name.ext" without the quotation marks if you're lost, though you'll probably spot it straight away

).

What you need to do there is type in www in the first text box and type in ghs.google.com in the text box on the right of ".name.ext". Since there are two text boxes, just make sure that you're using the top most text box.

Now you have to go to your blogspot account and login, then go to the settings section of your blog (it's next to where your blogs name is written).

Now on top of the page there are a bunch of links aligned horizontally as 'basic, publishing, formatting' so on and so forth. Click on publishing.

Now if you can see something that says 'Switch to: Custom Domain' then click on it, if you don't see that then you're fine, don't worry.

If you look at the page you'll find 'Your Domain:' written down and next to a text box. In the text box type in the domain you set up earlier Really Long Link

Click on the 'Save Settings' box down below.

I think you'll need to wait a few minutes or hours before it works but soon you'll be able to go to your blog by going to www.katyzzzplace.com.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments but especially to Ahmed who gave such generous well expressed very clear instructions, which delighted me, I found I needed to add my IP no Ahmed, but everything else worked really well except that I finally seemed not to be coming up on the web at all, but I did get rid of that dynadot free advertisement (for them - not me) and after another fiddle I found something else to change, perhaps I got that one wrong, but the end result was I decided to stick to katyzzzplace.blogspot.com which is probably not of any use with having my own domain, but I was fed up with dynadot and more than fed up with the do it yourself jigsaw puzzle, maybe I'll try again sometime, but Ahmed your generosity was exceptional and very much appreciated, it is long overdue in its acknowledgment, I can't think what else I can say other than a very big thankyou.

Now, Julie, your response was similarly generous and appreciated but I want to buy something that works not a do it yourself kit, I've done my dough but fortunately not much and I can see how they keep extracting money from you which does not deliver until you have spent some more and more and more, so I had a pretty low cost education, it is typical of web practices and it appals me.

Now, for everyone else, I would thank all of you, you were all so willing to help and that is wonderful, I hope you have learned something from it too.

And I didn't realize it was one of 'those post' and don't think it became one until a rather over the top comment so I think It was 'one of those comments' that needed restricting not the post.

Phew, musn't mention the big ~~bucks~~ cents I earn again.

So here endeth the 'umpteenth' lesson, sad, that.

Thanks a lot everyone you are always welcome at katyzzzplace.com You can relax there and have a bit of a browse. I earn even less there, in fact nothing, maybe that will change sometime, but I rather like going there myself.
