I Have HUGE News!

July 24th 2007 00:14
Hi Orbler's one and all!

Sorry I haven't been able to get round to everybody's blogs much of late, but now I can share the reason why, and why I'll probably be off the beaten track for a while longer yet!

I'm moving OVERSEAS for a couple of years!!!

Hubby's company wants us to relocate to the UK for quite a while, hence why the blog hold up and drama of my blog for those who've visited recently.

We've just been on a reconnaissance trip over there to sort things out and so now, all smelly and dirty (although much cleaner now) we've returned and the whole process of being packed and out of here in as little as 4-5 weeks has begun. talk about fast - I don't know if I'll be able to keep up.

So I just thought I'd let you all know, I'll visit and vote on your blogs when I can still, but I'm going to still be very shy in the comments department for a while yet.

Hopefully when we get over there and settled in I can return to commenting on everyone's stimulating blogs, but for now it's going to be a veritable whirlwind around here. I will miss chatting to you all for a while, but hopefully when things do settle down I'll be able to hop right back into it, as this will probably be my only 'home' connection while I'm over there.

So wish me luck on getting everything prepared in time, and don't forget my ghostly presence will be watching you all! ; )

hi Melissa A,
although we don't 'know' each other here in OrbleWorld, I still am happy for you, it is an exciting and wonderful time to be in!

I hope your stay there is fillled with creative passion, investigation, discovery and glee!

If you ever get the time or opportunity, give Big Ben a pat for me and say I said 'hello'!! hehe!

cheers,
bon voyage!

Thanks fog, it's nice to have some encouragement at the moment - it is still a somewhat scary process and I'm still not convinced it's quite real yet. Of course that could just be the recent jet-lag talking.

But I don't imagine it will really be real (is that even a sentence!) until I have my entire house packed of all our belongings.

The next question will be dealing with the kids, their essentials and what they think are their 'essentials'.

Hey MelissaA,

Sounds like a jackpot win to me, when you consider the available abundance above money... CONGRATS.

I hope you do 're-connect' to orbleand once you have settled down again, I'll miss those silly things that people say and do ...and your sharing them *giggle*

Bon Voyage and Happy Travels to you both.

Let us know how it all turns out...
Lilla ...

I'm not dumping anybody Ahmed, I'll still be here blogging, I just won't be here if you get my drift.

I'll be attempting to set up numerous blogs in advance and hope that everything runs smoothly.

It's internet connections etc I'm worried about blogwise, and of course getting the time to set them all up with all the packing etc

LOL about the 59000 - maybe I should get stranded in airports more often - ironically I never got the email to tell me the stats for that day. (Does anybody still have it - I wouldn't mind seeing that bit for myself)

Lilla, I will try and compile an adequate amount of silliness in the pre-set blogs to keep yourself ( and others) amused, so you all probably won't even notice I'm not around all that much, except comment-wise of course.

Well it's time yet again to drag my sorry backside off the computer and start packing some more, seeing as I now only have 3-4 weeks left.

So much to do, so little time!

Thanks for the wishes guys and everyone keep their fingers crossed I can fit all my stuff into a shipping container after I do another cull. (So far we're in excess with all the kid's stuff etc)

Hi Melissa

From a Welsh person who has spent time in London, that's brilliant news! I'm very happy for you and your family. Do you know whereabouts in LOndon you'll be?
Very exciting!!

MelissaA AAAAAAAAAAAAAA ...

Just be careful the Poms don't get to you. At the first sign of you writing a whinging post about the weather? I'll be putting up beach pics.

LOL all of you, we just couldn't talk about England without mentioning weather, whinging, cold beer and soggy chips.
Well, I don't know about the soggy chips as yet, but I know when we were on our familiarisation trip recently I couldn't get a cold drink of Coke from anywhere that was actually cold.

Mind you, I won't be in London, I'll be up near Manchester, so I imagine come winter, the Coke won't have a choice!

I will be posting pics up, no fear about that, and David, I would just love to see photo's of the beach - then I can point them out to the really whinging Poms I meet and ask them what exactly they're whinging about if you get my drift.

Well now that I've had my 2 minutes of R&R, I should get back to my own private hell-hole! Honestly, small children can (and have) gotten lost in the quagmire that is currently my abode.
Hopefully Saturday's garage sale will sort some of that out, but I'll lay pennies to pounds (sounding like a Brit already 'ay guvnor!) that no-one shows up - well, not for the bulky stuff anyway.

Time for another drink first though I think, especially now that I have all this nasty, horrid alcohol they won't let me transport......

Oh I love it up near Manchester! It's an area with a lot of character. When do you leave?

Mel

I can assure you that not even us Poms have soggy chips! We have the best fish and chips in the world, the best meat pies and just wait until you try our bangers (oo-er).

I am very jealous. I'd love to go back.

Have an awesome time and if you happen to be passing through Portsmouth, get out of there quick!!!

LOL, Don't look at me, Bryn was the one mentioning soggy chips!

Container will be uplifted exactly 3 weeks from today and we'll probably be flying out a few days after that.

Anyone out there into Ebay? - Check out my auctions so far and pass the word around to anyone who might be interested - otherwise it's going to be a very tight squeeze for both a container and a house over there.

Or even if you just want to have a spy on my stuff, since you're all such a well-renowned bunch of sticky-beaks.

My life up for auction!

P.S. Andrea - what's wrong with Portsmouth? So far I've only been told to stay away from Liverpool.

Nope, as long as i have an internet connection I'll be able to blog.
Might be easier in comparison to now where I have an ISP which only runs 20% of the time!

Hi Mel

Portsmouth's a typical English port city ... not a particularly attractive place. I grew up just outside Portsmouth in a place called Widley which is much nicer. There are some lovely areas in the south of England but Portsmouth isn't really one of them!

From what I've heard, Portsmouth seems to have acquired a bit of a bad reputation in later years as well. Put it this way ... it's worth watching your back!

Enjoy your time over in England, Mel. It really is the chance of a lifetime for you.
And I thought my move from Victoria to Queensland was going to be big!!!

It might be the chance of a lifetime, but I tell you what, I wish it was all organised, finished and done and we were over there now. I can certainly do without all the current running around.

Does make you wonder though - wouldn't it be nice to have a time machine that could put you say...... 2 weeks into the future!

Give me three weeks and I'm with you on the time machine idea.
