It looks like this was achieved through submitting her article about Jay-Z and Bill Gates to a number of sites including
www.uniquedaily.com
www.totalfark.com
www.13gb.com
www.reddit.com
www.digg.com
This is a great tactic if you have a good article to submit.
Be careful though! If you start submitting sub-par articles or submit too often you may be blacklisted from these sites.
Also be careful about "digging" yourself (or the equivalent) as this can get you banned as well.

Yes, it'll get you instantaneous traffic. But that traffic is people coming to see if the link is any good. They'll be skeptical and cynical. That's not traffic that shows good readership.
Submitting to Digg is like a crack hit from a glass pipe. Sure, it makes you feel like God for 18 seconds, but once the ride is over, you'll want it again. And again. AND again.
On Digg, it's easy to see what people have posted and commented on, and if you're just pumping your own site, and not contributing to the community, it's easy to get blacklisted. Or worse - targetted by malicious geeks!
What would I recommend?
Well, if you have an outstanding post that you think would be suitable for Digg - get someone else to post it!
Remember!
Give credit where credit is due... if you post a picture or an article, and it's taken from another source, you need to provide a reference and a link! That could have serious implications for our network, which is, a commerical enterprise.
