Help!

June 11th 2009 22:52
OK, so I have a couple of quick questions.

1. I have taken over an inactive blog, and haven't done anything with it with regards to adsense. However, there are still ads displayed. Am I getting the revenue from these ads, or is it going to the original creator of the site?

2. If you are looking at a post, the category that it is from in the side bar turns black. My background is black, meaning you can't see the category. I have tried finding it in the advanced themes page, but can't. Is there any way to change the color of the category link if you are looking at something in that category?

Thanks!

i think you only get Adsense from the posts you create

the same thing happens on Natalina's MyLifeMyMuse blog, which is also has a black background CLICKHERE

i will speculate it is just a gliche in the system, i think Jon would have to fix it manually, you might want to send him an email an alert him to the technical error

either that or you could change the colour of your sidebars to something other than black so the highlighted Category will show up

Morgan, I see you commented that we only get adsense revenue for posts we created, right? If you take over an inactive blog, I guess that would make sense in the beginning. But once you started bringing new traffic to the old blog, by posting new content, it would only seem fair that you got to take over the old moderators half of the profits, right?! I mean, Orble gets half anyway, and it seems excessive for them to keep 100% of the adsense profits for a blog that you are generating all the new content and traffic for, huh? Ah well, just a thought!!

haha well maybe thats why Jon is rich and im not?

i guess you could delete the old posts out of spite but it would actually disadvantage you when it comes to being crawled by search engines

like i said, i THINK thats how it works . . . maybe someone from Admin could confirm or deny?

No, I agree...you certainly want to keep old posts for the search engines. But on an inactive blog you've taken over, that's basically old archived posts. Once you start posting new content and bringing in fresh hits, you would think that you've essentially taken the place of the old moderator that abandoned the old content for whatever reason. If someone new steps up and puts in the effort, common sense would say that the new moderator takes over the old moderator's position, right? Ah, well, perhaps I just spent too much time in the Florida sun today!!!

I think you get the full revenue.

At least that's how it seems in my tennis blog that I took over.
