How do blogs get to make in on the front page?

Wouldn't or shouldn't it be by rank? I have one blog on there and has been for a while, but another of mine has a better rank and another with a very similar rank, both get more traffic than the one posted on the orble front page.

I'm just curious how blogs are chosen for the front page.

regarding individual posts, Jon recently said the following:

The popular list is based on the number of votes a post has divided by its age in days. Some posts are removed manually if they are about Orble or violate some other rule such as mature content.

i would assume the popular blog list on homepage is formulated much the same way and works on internal votes rather than hits and total readership

That's crazy.. Too bad it's not on hits. That would make more sense, considering hits equals popular... To me anyway.
