Domain Blog
July 30th 2009 04:49
Hi guys,
I recently earned an Orble Blog Promotion (a second one), and instead of taking over an old blog (I've looked through EVERY single .com inactive blog name), I wish to make my own domain.
Is there a way that I can do this? Is there an option to take over an inactive blog, and then change its URL? I'm very attached to my current blog name, and I wish to keep it. I also don't want to risk losing my promotion by haphazardly taking over a blog and seeing what options are available, since I don't remember from the last blog I took over.
Thanks for the help,
Fremen

I should've specified. I want to keep Grudging Geek. I made a bit of a trend out of using it. I love the name.

Otherwise, purchase your own domain, and set up a blog on your own site with whatever you want it to be called.

i hope you dont mind me posting the PM response i sent you, it might help other new users who are browsing the Writers Forum
hi Fremen,
Jon prefers if you take over an inactive blog because he has already paid for those domains and they are not being used . . . it is also better for you because the inactive blogs contain older content which has already been crawled by the search engines, you will have instant traffic, an instant google ranking, and sometimes even instant subscribers
regardless of your new url, you can choose whatever name you want under Modify > Blog Tag (Business News is url currentbusinessnews.net, and Cibbuano's 20/20 Filmsight is moviecritic.com.au)
you can also upload a banner with whatever name and images you like
if you really, really want a new domain (which i dont recommend, all of my blogs - bar Artist Quirk - were taken over from inactive blogs) then i suggest you go to a site like:
http://availableurl.net/
check the availability, make it no more than 2 words, limited syllables etc, and send Charles an email charles@orble.com and politely request a new domain be purchased for your blog
