Comment Options and Related Posts

Hello.

First, I wanted to ask - what are the extra options on comments about? Will we have to type in email address every time we want notifications? Can others see our email address? What if someone is a pain in the arse and requests everyone to receive notification of their comments, whether everyone wants them or not?

And is there a way to have related posts listed in order of date/time posted or order added? At the moment I believe they are listed alphabetically, and if you write a series of related posts like I have, and someone reads them in that order, they won't make sense.

Also, is there a way to un-relate posts? If you can fix this, then I don't want to, but if you can't, I would like to unrelate them and then just put in my own links at the bottom, so they are in the right order.

The new comment options are just on trial and no doubt there will be the odd change as people let me know what they think. If you are logged in you won't have to type in your email address.

Others will not be able to see your address as it will only appear when you are logged in.

If someone decides to be a pain in the arse and enter in lots of email addresses every time they comment then we will figure out some controls -- like limiting the number of people who can be notified within a certain period, allowing people to opt out of extra notifications etc like we do with private messages.

I'll get back to you with regards to the related posts.

I've changed the order of the related posts to be by date of creation with the most recent on top. I agree that makes more sense than alphabetically. If anyone seriously objects speak up now

The change will actually happen next time I upload the code which will probably be in the next day or so.

That's great - but would it be possible to have the oldest at the top? People would naturally click down the list from the top to the bottom, so in order to read the first (ie oldest) post in the series, they should be able to click the first link and work their way down?

My series of posts goes like this, if in the proper order:

One
Two
Three
Four

As they are now (alphabetically) they go:

Four
One
Three
Two

And with the most recent at the top they will be listed:

Four
Three
Two
One

I would prefer them to be listed in the order they are meant to be read in, if this wouldn't adversely affect anyone else - and I doubt it would.

OK. I'll have to put in an option to configure it which will take a little longer. I don't think it makes sense for most blogs to go with oldest first.

Jon, can we please turn this off?! I think there are ~~too many~~ people who wants everyone to see their comment(s)... I open my in-box, and there are like 30 odd notifications!

I'm quite sure I turned off 'no notification'...
