Colors of the VOTE buttons

I'm just curious. Howcome some buttons are green, others yellow but more commonly blue?
I tried to figure it out myself but couldn't... I'm sure it's not the number of votes coz one my posts has that green button but only have 9 votes while i had another one with more than 40 votes with a yellow button..
I'm sure it has nothing to do with a spotlight post either coz the few spotlight posts I have did not have any specific colors to them...
So, can someone enlighten me?
Then again, maybe it's just aesthetics? heheh
