Blocking
December 17th 2006 18:02
Is it a possibility to add the option to block certain users from posting comments on our blogs?
I don't want to have to verify every comment. We should have the ability to prevent problem commenters from spewing their verbal vomit on our sites.
Is anyone else having this problem?

I don't think it would encourage that. I think it would eventually drive out people who do things like that. It would at least give bloggers some control over what is posted in their absence, don't you think?

But again, I don't decide all this, I'd just be a little concerned. In essence, it's quite possibly a good idea.

getting blocked will take care of that, and I wont lose precious time posting tuff to bloggers who don't want to read...

Yeah, I have deleted one of yours...it didn't contribute to the 'moment'. Nothing personal. Your other comments have been left...and were great, btw.
Actually, I am not talking about blocking people upfront or anything like that. I am talking about people who post inappropriate things in relation to the post on a habitual basis. It is distracting to the post and discussion. Also, there is one, in particular, that I no longer want to have their feedback. I have told them so in no uncertain terms. However, I am not going to be around much starting tomorrow. I want some control over what is posted in my absence. I suppose for now, I may have to use the dreaded verification process.

I tried posting some tuff once, and got fined by the post office.
Looking at Vioced arguement, I'd have to say, I'm leaning towards blocking being a good thing... although, I tried to comment on Mind Orgasms today and they've changed something so i don't have permsiions to make posts.
So i think maybe it's possible already, dunno.

I think it's a good idea and for those that would be elitist and overuse it, well, they would face the consequences of that action. People would simply stop reading their work.
For those of us that would use it as it would be intended, it would work to prevent problems like that. I know of several other forums, etc. where you can be blocked if you abuse the system.
What is the going rate for tuff these days? *smile*
