I have a question. I have a lot of readers who come to my blogs from outside of Orble. They leave me comments from time to time.

Their comments were showing up (usually they are anonymous or they add their own site URLs) but now they seem to have disappeared from my blogs. In MyOrble, it still shows their comments as having counted, but on the actual posts they are no longer appearing.

What gives? Are only Orble member comments allowed to show up, or did I do something to delete them? I'm just curious because I don't want to deter my outside Orble readers from participating on my blogs.

Sometimes comments with outside URLs are considered spam and are deleted by admin. This is propably what is happening here.

When Orble blogs link to "spammy" URLs it can degrade your own SE rankings.

So, I don't know what happened to my last comment about this, but my readers' comments are still largely disappearing. I've even had readers tell me that they are unable to get the comments to go through in the first place. Other Orblers have experienced the same problem. What's going on? It really would be too bad if the only people able to leave comments are other Orblers.

Not trying to be a pest about this. My suggestion would be that at some point in the future, each writer would be able to monitor their own comments and delete spam themselves. That way genuine commenters wouldn't lose interest in our blogs as they are largely unable to participate in discussion.

I've had the same thing happen Natalina and I've been just as confused. sometimes a reader will email me and ask why I've deleted them and sometimes I get an email notification that a comment has been left but when I go to the post the comment is gone.

I know that there is probably a system in plave to prevent spammers but I'm worried if people can't link back to their own sites in a comment as often that's how I've gotten them to read me in the first place - by leaving a comment on a blog or a forum with my url link in it. I'm worried If they can't put a link in they won't bother coming back.

I'd like to monitor my own comments for spam too and report it if it's genuine spam and have the choice to delete or not.
