how are the 'Popular Blogs' decided?

December 15th 2006 07:14
When I get the traffic stats I see the top 20 orble blogs, but hey aren't all in the top 20 on the popular blogs list so I was wondering how are they judged?

Just a guess... Isn't it the same as karma? A mix of comments given and received, ratings, and traffic?

heh, well I dunno, I don't understand how I could be n the top ten, my traffic isn't so high and I don't get that much commenting from other members either :-\

I read somewhere that it has to do with the number of comments/points divided by the number of days the post existed.

the traffic stats are based purely on traffic for that day... the 'popular' blogs tend to have a consistent number of readers, so are at the top of the list often.

Consistant? Something must be wrong, my traffic flails wildly...

ahmed, your traffic might fluctuate, but the older blogs are pretty consistent, growing at the same rate. I have jumps when a post is extraordinarily popular, but pretty much I stay in the same spot, day after day!

Yeah it does with mine too, (I did make the popular posts list once, and got excrutiatingly close twice ), but erm, generally speaking one day I get like 80, the next day I get 280 then I get 180, so yeah, it fluctuates like mad...

Okay, I'm posting here as I can't seem to create a new message (Orble keeps telling me that the title I'm using is reserved for the administrators, no matter what I come up with) --

I'd like to create a few friend invites, but it seems that I need to enter an email address for them to go through? Does anyone know a way around this, as I don't have access to anyone's email and feel uncomfortable asking for the info?

Thanks,

Epiphanie

The popular blogs list is based on Karma (voting, comments etc) and 7 day averaged traffic.

Epiphanie -- how are you going to contact your friends to let them know they have been invited? If they have registered with Orble already you can invite them using their Orble tag as well.
