Google Ads missing in Forum
October 5th 2007 22:05
Currently my blog www.indusguru.com is configured as follows:
Format for the Blog - Ads in Text-Wide Format
Format of Posts - Default
However, there is a problem - On the Homepage since all posts appear one below the other, the Google Ads shown with the first and recent Post are not related to the topic and content of the post. When someone opens this post as a separate page then the Google Ads are more relevant to the content.
I am requesting you to please put appropriate tags at the start and end of the first post on the homepage such that Google only looks at the first post when deciding what ads to put.
Furthermore, I tried solving this problem by using the following options
Format of the Blog - Ads in Text - Wide Format and
Format of Posts - Forum
Howeverm in this when I open any post, it comes without the Adsense. Does the Ads in Text does not work when the format of posts is Forum? Please do something to make it work even when the Format of Posts is Forum
Looking forward to a solution.

After having a look I don't think the changes you suggest will have much of an effect on the click-through rate.
Most people who go to the homepage of Indus Guru are interested in the Indian Sciences in general rather than the information in the first post specifically and so are more likely to click on more general ads.
If they go to a specific post then the ads should reflect the content of that post which again is in line with the reader's interest.
As always I'm happy to be convinced otherwise.
With regards to the Forum format I'd rather not put ads in there for the moment because it's being used for classified ads. Perhaps the Compact format would be more appropriate?

As I understand there are two types of visitors who come to my site
1. Those who are Link Readers clicking a link in a search engine result. Here you are right - they come to the home page of www.indusguru.com when they have to know about Indian Sciences, and directly go to inner pages when they have to go to any other topic.
2. Those who are repeat readers, who either have subscribed to my blog, or come through other Orble blogs by clicking on the name of my blog or just come regularly to see any updated article as they have bookmarked or remember the name of the website.
As readers of type two above are sizeable, it is prudent that my suggestion is implemented.
Hope that I have been able to convince you otherwise.
