Adsense Account and Tax Implications

December 21st 2006 02:56
I can see the utility in getting everyone to sign up for their own Adsense account but what are the tax implications. As far as I am concerned no part of my blog has anything to do with the IRS or US Tax Law meaning that no part of my adsense revenue is subject to US tax. Is this the correct position?

Also, I had a small amount (under $10) in my revenue statistics in Orble before moving to Adsense. What happens to this amount?

Thanks,

Any commission earned before you submitted your AdSense id will be paid out as usual.

As for tax implications you will need to refer to the laws in your particular country. I am not a qualified financial advisor and so it would be illegal for me to give advice!

Having said that I think that US citizens are meant to pay US tax no matter where they live?

I am quite sure adsense operates above the tax laws of any given country becuase it is kind of like contract work, so it would be your job to tell whoever you have to tell wherever you live about the income you're getting from google adsense.

Of course beaurocrts (spelling?) have better things than penning down such and such persons $2 a week income

I agree with Ahmed - you'll have to add any significant income from Adsense to your tax return. Hence, for the purposes of this enquiry, I work in the Dubai Internet City...

Jon,

I'm not sure how much I made before switching directly to Google, but I'm going to assume it was under ten dollars so I'm not sure if you can send a cheque for that amount (if this is your preferred method of payment)?

Cheers ~

PMC -- I'm sure we will be able to sort something out when the time comes. What method of payment did you sort out with Charles?

I don't think we talked about payment methods, but since you have my bank account details I guess you can just deposit it there? )
