Addition to Traffic Stats

Just wondering - since you guys can differentiate betwen hit count and individual readers, would it be possible to document how many new readers we have daily or weekly? This way it would be easier to determine whether our readership is solid or fluctuating.

You could do what I do: all my traffic emails go into a folder, and I monitor them, myself...

I'm not just talking about individual readers though - basically, I mean something that would be easier to determine the readership of our blogs and whether or not this is solid. The easiest way to do this would be to determine the amount of new readers that visit - like those who actually have never visited before.

ah... I see...

that's an interesting idea, but sounds difficult... that means that there would have to be a permanent record of IP addresses for each blog...

bet jon could do it... he's pretty crafty...

a better indication of readership is how many readers return more than once!

All good ideas guys and they are on the todo list.

Alas I only have one Jay to implement all of these great ideas and although he is almost super-human it still takes time to get things done. I'll keep you posted.

Its on the way. We have spent the last couple of weeks updating the code to cope with multiple servers. That is finished now so we will be able to make some headway on the rest of the todo list.
