A new reuiqred field?

I haven't posted for a while, but am seeing a new box at the top of each post. The label says
"required" - but no description. If I fill it in, when the post displays the words I typed display under the post title, above the content. If I don't' fill it in I get into an endless error message loop when I try to save the thing. It's okay to leave it blank when I create the post, but if I want to modify anything I can't save the changes without filling in that field. All help appreciated!
